Rod for Model Number RSG257AARS Samsung RSG257AARS *Not making ice* Hello, when I push the ice maker test/reset, should I hear any type of mechanical noise? Our Samsung RSG257AARS stopped making ice, and I'm not sure if it's the ice maker that needs to be replaced. I've tried pushing and holding the ice maker test button, and the only noice I hear is the audible *ding* on the control panel. I wasn't sure if I should be hearing the motor turn or anything like that, but I've read that if ice is in the maker, it should fall. There is no ice in the maker, and I've also tried heating the water line going into the ice maker in case it froze. The water dispenser works fine (it dispenses more than the Samsung recommended 6 oz in 10 seconds) and I've replaced the filter in case it was clogged.
Answer Rod, You will not notice the icemaker cycling by noise. You would have to reach in and see if the icemaker is rotating. If is not rotating then the icemaker is faulty. If it does rotate but does not fill with water then test the water valve to ensure that there is power getting to it. If there is but no water then the valve is faulty and would need replaced.
