Toni for Model Number RF32FMQDBSR/AA Hi. I have had numerous service visits for my ice maker. The last repair guy installed a new unit. It works fine, but every month, give or take, I need to defrost it. However last week, I went to get ice, the auger ran and no ice. I found a mass of ice jammed at the front of the ice bin and in the ice chute. Defrosted all. Now the auger runs for 2+ minutes every 20 minutes. Have turned off power to fridge overnight and turned back on, auger still runs. Turned ice off and back on, still runs. Child lock on then off, still runs. Combo of ice and child lock, still runs. If it is running, it does stop when I open the door. Is there a fix? Is there a way to disable it? I want the water dispenser to work, but at this point, I can do without the ice maker. At least until I get a new fridge with 2 icemakers n case 1 breaks!! Thanks.
Answer Toni, it would be recommended that the ice maker section is inspected for any possible water that may have frozen in the wire connectors creating a bridged connection. In regards to the ice building up, the door chute would need to be inspected for a possible air leak. Using a flashlight, if light shines up through the door chute to where the ice bin connects to the door this would signify an air leak. This can oftentimes be caused by the motor in the chute assembly DA97-08680G not closing fully. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, June 1, 2020
