Art for Model Number RFG296HDRS/XAA My DA97-07365G fridge ice maker does not make ice. I have remover and disassembled the ice maker and have no stripped gears or broken parts. Water dispenser works, freezer temp is set to -8 degrees F, reset button beeps but nothing happens. Turned off power to box for a few hours and reapplied, no fix. The full ice arm is raised even though the ice bin is empty. One time when I hit the reset button the motor ran and the full ice arm lowered and then raised itself. It appears to me the arm needs to be down to allow the unit to make ice but the arm is never down. The second removal found the ice tray full of water but no ice. This was noticed after an over night time period. I don't know when the water ran. I don't understand how replacing the ice maker will fix the problem. Please comment, thanks, Art
Answer Art, with the ice bin removed and the door switch activated, it will be necessary to identify if the ice maker fan (located in the freezer section) is blowing cold air into the ice maker section by feeling for air coming from the back. If there is not, the next step would be to close the door and test the main control at the connection CN76. With the red probe at pin 2 and the black probe on pin 1, there should be a 7-12VDC reading. If not, the main control has failed or the ice off button has been activated. If there is correct voltage, the fan should be rotating and would need to be inspected for an ice blockage in the freezer section preventing the fan from rotating. If there is not an ice block, the evaporator cover assembly DA97-07656A would need to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Saturday, June 13, 2020
