Dale for Model Number Samsung RF28HFEDTSR/AA This model has 2 ice makers. The one in the lower freezer drawer has stopped producing ice. Is there any way to tell whether I need to replace the fill tube assembly with the new heater as opposed to replacing the Ice Maker?
Answer Dale, if the fill tube is blocked up with ice, the heater would be the cause. If it is not blocked up with ice, the freezer temperature would need to be verified as being at 0°F for the ice maker to properly harvest. If it is at a proper temperature, the ice maker will have a test button on the bottom of the motor that can be pressed. After it completes the test, water should fill the tray. If it does not but the valve could be heard, the valve has failed. If it does fill, the ice maker would be the likely cause of failure. Read More...
