Dave for Model Number RF2487HARS

Water is dispensing from the water dispenser without the switch being engaged. I was going to order dispenser switch AP5962465, but read this could also be caused by the water inlet valve. I can use the water dispensing paddle to turn it off, then works fine to dispense water into a glass and turns off when glass is removed. Problem is it also came on twice without being pressed, and I had to put on child lock. Any advice if can isolate to specific part to fix this?

Answer

Dave, if the water lever DA97-08519A loosely moves it could intermittently cause the built-in switch to activate if there is enough vibration. If the lever does not have any play, the failure would likely be in the main control. For the most accurate part information regarding the main control, the full model number and REV number would be necessary.
