Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve Assembly (Part Number: OEM13534080)

Larry, Thank you for your question. If the icemaker is not filling up completely with water then yes the water valve would be the issue. If there is a problem with the unit not harvesting ice quick enough and the temperature is good then this will be a faulty icemaker.

My fridge began making a water-hammer type of noise when dispensing water and eventually, the flow slowed dramatically. I always change my filter and installed a fresh Samsung OEM filter, but that had no effect. I noticed that water flowed freely when the filter was removed. Thinking it was a bad filter, I tried another with the same result, so we've been using it without a filter. Lately, I'm hearing the same noise even when the ice maker is filling and I'm wondering if it's the solenoid, or if the water filter case might be the problem?

Water was freezing at the bottom of my freezer. I turned my icemaker off while I was cleaning the ice up. I cleaned out the drainage tubes in case that was the problem but a small amount of ice formed. Called a repairman. The repairman came out and sai They checked the drainage holes, etc and everything was fine but ordered drainage holes just in case. I turned icemaker back on and reset it. It made the initial ding dong when reset and then made a ding dong sound a few minutes later again. Next morning, ice is forming on the freezer floor again. When I pull icemaker out there is water in the icemaker and not ice. Do I only need a new icemaker or is there something else I need as well?

Cheryl, Pull the unit out from the wall and remove the cover on the rear of the unit. There will be 2 drains there, pull them out and remove the duck bill from inside them and make sure that they are clean. I would recommend to cut a larger opening in them as this is the most common cause for the ice on the floor. If this is clean then it would be more likely that the water valve is not closing completely when the icemaker cycles and it would be more likely replacing the water valve would correct the issue.

Very little water is going to ice maker and water dispenser. Check the continuity of the water inlet valve and it was okay. But when I disconnected what I believe was the output line and activated the water dispenser, just a small spurt of water was dispersed by the inlet valve. Also, is the blue line, the line to the water dispenser? I disconnected the white line with the black coupler around it. Plenty of water going to the refrigerator and the pressure was good. Faulty inlet water valve?

Paul, Thanks for the question!!! Test at the water valve for 120volts. If voltage is present it is not the valve that has failed.
