Alan for Model Number WF431ABP/XAA 01

Like the others, the unit spins out of balance, even when empty of clothing. The unit smelled of smoke after the spin cycle (with clothing). Q: Should the machine spin out of balance while empty of clothing? After reviewing the videos, I have the machine broken down to the point of removing the inner drum. The main shaft is seized to the bearing and I have been attempting to loosen it for most of the day. I've tried penetrating fluid and different hammers (with a throw-away bolt in the shaft) and dead blow mallet without success. My next step would be an impact hammer. Q: how resilient is the outer tub to this kind of stress? Also, there isn't really any looseness / side to side movement from the spider.... it definitely doesn't seem to be broken, I can't tell if it is cracked yet. If I can't separate the shaft, then I'm kinda stuck... I have read that the balance rings can either leak the fluid or the fluid becomes too thick to work properly. The front balance ring seems to have some fluid along with the beads in it, but I don't know how thin the fluid should be.... how easily the beads navigate the fluid. They are very slow to move. Q: How quickly should the beads within the balance ring move around? The tub does make noise when spinning (without the front balance ring) that sounds like there are beads in the rear balance ring. By the sound of it, those beads are much more free to move than the ones in the front balance ring. Also, with the front balance ring removed, the inner tub is more balanced and doesn't favor one position of the spin as when the front ring is installed. The shocks seem okay

Answer

Alan, Maybe removing the lid might help see better. You have two springs on top that the washer hangs from and 4 suspension shocks underneath that i would check first. Make sure the leveling legs are down against the floor.
