Stephen for Model Number WF520ABW/XAA At the end of the rinse and spin there was some smoke coming out past the front of washer 2 different times. I have taken all apart and can not find any visible signs of damage to electrical parts any suggestion on what may be causing this?? The cloths were not as rung out as normal.
Answer Stephen, the spin basket would need to be inspected to identify if it rotates freely and if it is able to move independently of the outer tub. If it does not move freely, there may be an item stuck between the basket and tub. If it moves independently of the outer tub, it will have either a bad bearing (part of the rear tub assembly DC97-16151A) or a broken spider shaft (part of the basket assembly DC97-16086A). The door gasket DC97-16140A will also need to be inspected for any signs of damage from friction. If those check good, the unit will need to be placed into a cycle while the back panel is removed so that the unit may be observed to identify where the smoke may be coming from. Read More...
