John for Model Number wa5451anw/xaa 01 I had a water leak in the washer underneath the drain pump assembly. I removed the drain pump assembly and discovered no debris, but really bad smelling water came out of the drain pump. I can shake the drain pump and water comes out of the pump enclosure. I'd guess that some seal broke and water seeped in. In normal operation, water is not supposed to get into the drain pump itself, correct? Also, I only had one screw instead of two like the video for holding the drain pump assembly to the drain pump. Do I need another screw?
Answer John, it is correct that water should not be getting into the motor housing of the drain pump DC31-00054A. In regards to the screw, the discontinued drain pump and housing assembly DC97-16776A shows there are only three screws so another one would not be necessary. Read More...
