Rob Fridge is a Samsung RS2555SL Side by Side. Fridge evaporator coils freeze up so I have narrowed to a defrost cycle issue. I replaced the defrost sensor and that did not fix the problem. Based on research, it looks like it can only be one of 2 remaining failures. The heater (MFG Part Number: DA47-00094C) or the main board. When I power off/on the fridge, the front display shows a 3 before returning to ready state. I know this signifies a defrost problem but does it indicate a particular part failure? The main board is the more expensive part so I tested the heater with a multimeter and it registered 468 ohms. I also did a continuity test and it showed no continuity. Do either of these tests point to a faulty heater? Idea's? Thanks for your help.
Answer Rob, If you are reading 486 ohms on the resistance reading of the heater then the heater would not be the problem. The Control board would be the issue and would need to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, September 11, 2013
