Jerry for Model Number DV48H7400EW/A2

i had my dryer for about a year and a half. just recently it stop working. the power comes on but when i press "start", all i hear is a little "tick sound" and doesn't spin or run. although is still displays the drying time. at first, i unplugged and checked the breaker. then i first got the error message of the "door not being properly closed". which it seemed fine. i then did the error coder and got " -: " (negative semicolon) does this mean anything? id like to know more before i try replacing the thermo parts. thanks

Answer

Jerry, Your dryer has two(2) thermal fuses, one on the heater housing DC96-00887C / DC96-00887C, which controls the power to the heater, and one on the blower housing DC47-00015A / DC47-00015A, which controls power to the motor. Check the fuse on the blower housing, if it has an open circuit you'll need to replace it in order to restore power to the motor. If that is the case, you will also want to check the exhaust venting and vent hood for kinks, clogs, and restrictions which would cause the heated air to accumulate in the blower and cause the fuse to open and remove power to the motor.
