Willy for Model Number RS265LABP Water is not being dispensed but ice is being made. I hear a noise like a motor humming when I try to dispense water. Would I need to replace only the inlet valve? Model RS265LABP. Part Number: AP416558
Answer Hello Willy, If the water valve is humming, you need to make sure the issue is the valve before ordering it. The water tank in the bottom of the fresh food compartment may be frozen. Dis-connect the water line at the base of the door and put it in a shallow pan. If water comes out there with the door shut and the dispense button is depressed, the water line in the door is frozen. If it doesn't come out, remove the larger water line from the bottom of the water valve and try it again. If water comes out, the water tank is frozen. If no water comes out, the valve has failed. As a note, if the water tank is frozen, remove the drawers and use a hair dryer to thaw it. This will take about 15 minutes. You will then need to adjust the fresh food temperature one setting COLDER to increase the air circulation to prevent the cold air from settling to the bottom and freezing it again. Set the freezer setting one setting warmer to circulate a bit warmer air in the future. If the door water line is frozen, heat the outside freezer door panel with a hair dryer for 20 to 25 minutes (with the door opened) to thaw it out and adjust the settings as previously discussed.
