Locke for Model Number VGIC 305 I have just replaced both oven igniters (part PB040001) but amperage still low, 2.6 - 2.7, and therefore replaced the safety valve (part PB010084). Amperage is still low, now 2.9 (but at least for the time being both oven burners are lighting appropriately). Why is the amperage still low and what can I do for repair?
Answer Locke, as the safety valve will not open unless 3.2 to 3.6 Amps are drawn by the ignitor, verifying the accuracy of the meter can be done by testing for voltage instead of amperage. If there is a full 120VAC going to the ignitor, and it is drawing 3.2 to 3.6 Amps, there should be 3.2 to 3.6 VAC reaching the safety valve. If there is 3.2 to 3.6VAC reaching the valve, the system is good and no further testing would need to be done. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, December 23, 2021
