Locke December 23, 2021 for Model Number VGIC 305 I have just replaced both oven igniters (part PB040001) but amperage still low, 2.6 - 2.7, and therefore replaced the safety valve (part PB010084). Amperage is still low, now 2.9 (but at least for the time being both oven burners are lighting appropriately). Why is the amperage still low and what can I do for repair?
1 Answer Locke, as the safety valve will not open unless 3.2 to 3.6 Amps are drawn by the ignitor, verifying the accuracy of the meter can be done by testing for voltage instead of amperage. If there is a full 120VAC going to the ignitor, and it is drawing 3.2 to 3.6 Amps, there should be 3.2 to 3.6 VAC reaching the safety valve. If there is 3.2 to 3.6VAC reaching the valve, the system is good and no further testing would need to be done. Read More...
Nick June 15, 2018 for Model Number Viking VGIS-360-6BDSS The oven igniters last less than 12 months with standard part # PB040001. I was advised some years ago that if line voltage is low (which is possible in my 120-year-old house) I should use a "low voltage tolerant" igniter. I can't find that part #, Can you advise?
1 Answer Nick, Unfortunately we would not have any information on a low voltage tolerant igniter as the ignitor will need to have a certain amperage draw. Read More...
1 Answer Steve, If you look up on the broil part of the oven you will see the igniter which is just screwed into the broil part of the unit. Read More...
Jim December 14, 2014 for Model Number DYNASTY model DGRSC366 I have to replace the oven igniter on this oven and I need a cross-reference to a different one as my igniter is not available any more. Please advise on different part number. Thanks, Jim
1 Answer Jim, the igniter for your model, part number 70001036, has been discontinued with no further replacements or cross references available and our company is unaware of any other available sources. Sorry about that! Read More...
Lee November 17, 2014 for Model Number viking VGRC 48" One of my burners lights fine but it continues to click after it lights. What would cause this?
1 Answer Hello Lee. You need to test the spark switches on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jeanne July 23, 2013 for Model Number Viking VGSO166-SSBR Do the ignitors continue to glow once the burners are lit?
1 Answer Hello Jeanne. Yes, in some models it is normal for the igniters to continue to glow after the burner is lit. Read More...

Joe F. February 08, 2012 for Model Number Viking 6 Burner Propane 36" Range 6 years old and oven stopped lighting. Igniters (2) glow bright orange no combustion. Broiler works fine. Expensive piece of junk. (Burner igniters lasted about three years) From the forums, looks like igniters but I am wrong about a lot of things, just ask my wife. Any suggestions for repair and/ or parts?
1 Answer Hello Joe. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter 065650-000 will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
J G February 07, 2012 for Model Number Viking 6 burner, 36" Gas range/oven The range is about 5-6 years old. Recently the oven will not heat up. Both igniters (?) glow but no gas seems to get to the 2 "burners". The broiler works fine. Can't find a model or serial number plate but I am guessing they haven't changed much so I am guessing this is the correct igniter and solution. Any suggestions?
