John C. for Model Number Viking VGSC306-4BSS Ignition for all 4 top burners seems to work OK when the oven is off, or when the oven is not very hot. But when the oven is hot (say, over 400 degrees), any top burner that is not already lit cannot be lit (no sparks, no sound). Any burner that is already lit remains lit and burning with typical intensity. The behavior stops when the oven is turned off and allowed to cool for a while. Could the spark controller be overheating, or could the hot oven somehow be tricking the spark controller's logic into thinking that it needed to lock out the spark action?
Answer John, You will want to check to make sure that the cooling fan is running when the oven is on and if it is not then this would be the issue with the unit causing the top section to overheat and not operate. If it is then this would most likely be an issue with the spark module of the unit. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, November 26, 2018
