Hamish for Model Number JFC2089HES A month or so ago, my ice maker started dripping water into the ice cube catch bucket/tray so that a big block of ice forms in the far back corner of the ice bucket. The drip does not happen when the ice maker is off (arm up), only when it's actively making ice (arm down). The freezer drain was clogged and I cleared that, but the problem still persists. The ice tray Fill Funnel looks fine, but clearly it's leaking from somewhere near it, but there is no visible crack. Lastly, sometimes when I am filling up a glass from the water dispenser, the solenoid pulses on and off intermittently. With all of that info, do you think I need to replace the Dual Water inlet valve? What about any part of the ice maker itself, like the Fill Funnel (again, this doesn't appear to be cracked at all) or any other part? The drip only happens when the ice maker is actively making ice. This appliance is about 14 years old. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
Answer Hamish, The molding of the icemaker could be deteriorating causing the leaking issue. Poor water pressure to the icemaker could cause this as well. Make sure that you have a good filter. This could also cause the hammering noise when dispensing water. If the filter is good you may have a faulty filter head assembly that would need to be replaced. Read More...
