Manufacturer Part Number: 8193918

The Filter Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This component is responsible for trapping food particles and debris, preventing them from recirculating during the wash cycle and ensuring that dishes come out clean.

Causes of a bad filter assembly can include accumulated debris, regular wear from repeated use, or damage from harsh cleaning agents. A compromised filter can reduce the dishwasher’s cleaning performance and lead to buildup inside the machine.

Symptoms of a bad filter assembly include:

  • Dishes not being cleaned properly
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Slow drainage or standing water in the dishwasher
  • Visible damage or clogging of the filter

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hi John. You need to get a bucket and un hook the drain hoes at the sink connection. Put the end of the hose in the bucket and see if the water now drains fully. If so then also use a screwdriver inserted in the sink drain to see if it is clogged there... (very common). You also need to see if the drain hose has a loop into it (creating a p-trap) and mounted as high as possible to the back wall of the under the sink area. Then taught into the drain standpipe... At the other end of the drain hose there is a check flap valve part # WP8268375. If this is missing or ripped it will allow negative back flow into the tub. It is mounted at the drain hose/ pump area. Small but very effectively needed. Unfortunately if the pump impeller is spinning loose on the pump shaft then you need to replace it. Pump Part # WPW10348269. Use a wet shop vac. to remove all debris from the sump area as you remove the top filter and lay all parts aside one by one to clean under the sink and inspect them for damage. When you get to the chopper blade then this is as far as you can go. Cleaning and using Dishwasher Magic part # TJ104 monthly w/ hot water will refresh the unit to keep optimum performance levels. Thank You.
