Larry S for Model Number Whirlpool Built-In Electric Convection Oven My wife was performing the self-cleaning feature and had designated 2 1/2 hour cleaning. After being on for about an hour, the display screen went blank and the door would not release after oven was cool. The breaker did not go off but there was a smell that reminded me of a transformer. I am suspecting that the control panel has malfunctioned. Before ordering a replacement, does that sound logical. The oven is nearly 9 years old and I'm torn between repairing versus replacing. I would appreciate your thoughts and comments. Thank you!
Answer Hello Larry. It sounds like the thermal fuse WP4451042 may be bad for the control board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
