Erin for Model Number 9707977 I ordered the Planetary to make a repair on my KitchenAid mixer (model KP26M1XPM). When trying to reassemble the planetary, it appears the hole in the shaft for the retaining pin is a few mm too low. Once the worm gear goes on, the hole for the retaining pin is slightly covered by the worm gear. I have even replaced the worm gear thinking that the original was warped, but the problem was still there. Short of shaving down the retaining pin, I have no clue what to do to get past this step. (All parts match the model number of my machine.) Could my mixer be an older version of the current model? Please help.
Answer Erin, You will want to make sure that you have the correct shims on the planetary shaft. If you have the wrong ones on there then the worm gear will sit over the retaining pin hole. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, May 1, 2015
