Daniel for Model Number LA5580xsw2 My machine is making a noise and stops. If I try later it runs with the noise. I changed the clutch and coupling... etc. Now, regarding Drive Block (Drive Bell), how do I know it is damaged or worn out? It looks ok to me by looking. And it was hard for me to pull out and put it back. Is it normal?
Answer Daniel, a worn tub drive block will usually make a rapid "thunk" noise at the start and end of a spin/drain cycle. Since it was " hard for me to pull out and put it back" the issue will probably be elsewhere. If the hub nut were loose, the tub would "wobble" make noise and could produce an off-balanced load. If we had a better idea of what kind of noise it makes when it makes the noise and where the noise is located we could be more of assistance. Since the washer "stops" during the cycle, you may want to check or recheck the drain pump and drive coupler, the pump bearing could be making a noise and or seizing up, causing a "drag' on the motor causing it to overheat and open the motor thermal protector?
