Mark H. for Model Number Sears 11026652503 I have a sears/whirlpool direct drive washer approx 5yrs old. The washer reaches the rinse cycle after agitating fine and won't pump out the water. I bypassed the lid switch took cabinet off and heard the motor humming at this time and getting hot. I was able to get it to pump and spin by helping it along at the coupler. I took the pump off ( no obstructions) it spins freely, the coupler is good, I took the motor off and was able to spin the coupler attached to transmission. The motor windings test ok with an ohmmeter and the motor switch as well. All that I can think of is the capacitor. I removed it and measured voltage across it and got zero, that should have been 120v in my opinion, using an ohmmeter it reads a open circuit across the terminals. Am I looking at a bad capacitor here? Thank you in advance
Answer Mark, The problem wouldn't be in the capacitor, you may have tested it wrong, and besides the washer motor wouldn't run in the agitate mode, either.
