Carrie for Model Number LSR7233DQ0

First of all, I don't know anything about electricity, and my question is about that. I'm okay with simple mechanical suff - I just replaced my washer's coupler and clutch. The problem is when I disassembled it, I thought I was going to fix it and put it back together the same day, but I got delayed a couple of weeks and now I forget how to put it back together. Specifically, the bundle of wires between the control panel(?) and the motor has (red) wire that goes to and from the capacitor, which is attached to the side of the motor. At the capacitor, I disconnected both red wires (going to motor and going to panel?). I didn't really have to do that, but I did. Now I forget which wire (to motor or to panel) was connected to which (terminal) on the capacitor. DOES IT MATTER? If it does, how can I tell ? Do I have to hire a pro merely to make this connection safely? Thank you

1 Answer

Carrie, It will not matter which wire is connected where on the capacitor as long as they are on the 2 separate posts.

Hello Dcase, since you were able to run the calibration cycle, you would know how to get into the test mode. In the test mode first, check for any fault codes, then run the autotest, lastly you can run the manual test cycle and confirm all components are working.

Hello Tony, This will most likely be the correct capacitor. The wires on your unit will connect to the two terminals and the empty connectors provided are for different models that can use this part. The empty connection points can be ignored.

Travis, This issue sounds likely that the agitator bottom may be stripped out which will be the most likely cause.

Michael M. for Model Number LSQ9244WQ0

Whirlpool washer model LSQ9244EQ0. Agitator and drum would not work. Direct drive motor coupling plastic piece was broken. Purchased and installed new coupling. Now the agitator and the drum work. There are other issues though. When the lid is opened with the washer running, it makes a grinding sound as the agitator comes to a stop. Then, when closing the lid, there's a loud "pop" sound coming from directly beneath the drum, as the motor begins running again. Lastly, there is a sickening burning smell (electrical).

1 Answer

Michael, the noises and burn odor is probably due to and issue in the basket drive W10820043 or clutch assembly 285785 causing a "drag" on the motor and causing the odor. You may want to remove the agitator as well and check to see that the "dogs" aren't damaged or the agitator isn't distorted. If all's OK, the gearcase would be the issue.

Tomas

Whirpool washer model #WTW5850SW0. It stopped working, it would only spin and drain and would only wash in a small section of one of the cycles so i thought it could be the timer, i opened the control top and saw ants over the timer. I took it out and opened it and found a ton of ants inside and several contacts were black. I cleaned and installed it but now the washer only overfills and does not wash or spin. Not sure if it's the timer, water switch or capacitor. The timer is not that cheap considering the washer is far from new and buying it only to find that wasn't the problem would be bad.

1 Answer

Thomas, The unit overfilling with water and not spinning or agitating it would be recommended to check the pressure hose to make sure that it is still attached to the tub and to the pressure switch. Also check for loose or damaged wiring. The timer would most likely be the issue if the contacts are not on properly in. If the pressure hose is good then the timer should be replaced. This timer is not designed to be taken apart.

Holy spiriy, Wish you had included the model number, but at this point, you'll need to check the lid switch circuits and make sure the contacts open and close with the lid position, then if it's OK, the timer would be the next possible issue.

Hello Troy. If the motor does not run to spin out, check the lid switch. If it does run but does not spin, check the drive block and the clutch. if both are good, replace the gearbox. Thanks.
