Ryan P for Model Number 110.27822790 My Kenmore washer (model# 110.27822790) will not agitate, spin, or drain. The washer will only fill now and when it is on other portions of the cycle, it only hums at the motor and usually produces a burning smell. I disconnected the motor from the pump and gearcase and had the exact same problem with no load on the motor. I also had access to a spare motor to try. I installed this spare motor but still had the exact same problems. I also checked the resistance on various windings for my motor and the spare I tried. All the resistance readings appear to be in spec and the readings were comparable between the 2 motors. The timer appears to cycle correctly (no humming in the off position, washer fills when it is supposed to, etc.). I checked the start-up capacitor. It is not shorted but it is weak, reading ~175 vs. a spec of 189 to 227 MFD. Is this capacitor too weak to start the motor? Thanks.
Answer Hello Ryan. It could be the capacitor, but if you replace it and the issue continues, you will need to replace the timer on the unit. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, September 23, 2014
