James for Model Number GS5SHAXNL02 My whirlpool side by side frig, has a water and ice dispenser in the door, the ice maker quit working first, I replaced the ice maker unit, it had some of the coating coming off where the ice cubes are made, that did not fix it but it needed replaced anyway,, the other day water starting coming out the water dispenser,( thank goodness we where home), it started flooding our house, it was running wide open, we had to pull the frig from the wall and turn off the water shut off valve. Do you think the control board is going bad?? Does the control board work both the ice and water??
Answer Hello James. Test for power to the water valve. If there is power there then either the switch or the board is bad. If there is no power there, then the water valve is bad on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
