Doug for Model Number Kenmore Refrigerator 106.52609100 Hello. My Icemaker works fine for the most part. Except occasionally there is a problem where it wont stop making ice even after the bin is filled! This is a problem because it dumps ice and water all over the floor while I am asleep. Both times this has happened, its been after I dumped the entire ice reservoir into a cooler. Then the icemaker has to run continuously for appx 12-24 hours to refill the bin completely, but then it just keeps going. I read online that the bailer arm could be seized in a position telling the ice maker to keep going. So I defrosted it and everything worked fine for w while, until I emptied the ice bin for the next time. Something of note is that my icemaker control module on the right hand side does have an LED, but it has never flashed in the time I've owned the fridge (manufactured in 2001, but was in the house I moved into 2021). I took out the large board on the right and it was quite warm despite being in the freezer. So can you tell me the possible cause of this problem?
Answer Doug, The large board on the right is part of the set of boards that determine how much ice is actually in the bin. Models without these boards have the bail arm on the actual ice maker that stops the ice maker from making ice. In your case it seems occasionally the boards are acting up and would need replaced.
