Gerry for Model Number wrv986fdem01

Lights at top of fridge cabinet don't work, but side lights do work. Also, the deli drawer control panel has no lights and nothing happens when trying to change the deli drawer temperature preset. I pulled out the deli drawer controller, and there is no water there. The ice maker in the door and the one in the freezer work correctly, and the freezer and frig seemed to be cooling correctly. The wires going through the left door top hinge are not frayed or stressed. I understand that the lights in the cabinet are wired in series, but would a bad LED knock power out to the deli drawer controller? Thanks!

Answer

Hello Gerry, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. You most likely have 2 separate issues going on, this unit had known issues with the Deli UI and with the lights. It is recommended by the manufacturer to replace ALL of the LEDs in the unit, regardless of whether or not they are out, using module kit [W11683243]. As for the Deli UI, it could be the deli control [WPW10677119], but it is also possible that it is the harness in the deli drawer door [W10815674], or the side adapter harness [W11170612]. Usually you can pop that deli UI out from the top and check to see if there is moisture underneath it. If the wiring in the door is corroded you will most likely need to replace the door and the deli UI. If the wiring looks good and it is dry underneath it I would replace the deli UI by itself 1st.
