John for Model Number Gc5shexnb00 As from my previous post, the fridge shorted, turning off the lights, water/ice dispenser , control panel screen is blank but the fridge/ freezer still cooling. I recently replaced the electronic control board part #2307037 in my Whirlpool Gc5shexnb00 and it did not resolve the problem. Advise in what / where to check next?
Answer John, the freezer door switch may need to be inspected to identify if it is being fully engaged by the door. With the door open, the door switch will need to be taped fully down and the dispenser inspected to see if it will accept any input. If this allows the dispenser functions to operate, the switch pad WP2177331 would be needed to correct the issue. If taping the door switch down does not correct the problem, the next step would be to test the door switch (with the refrigerator unplugged) for continuity. With the door switch W11396033 pressed in, there should be continuity from the blue/yellow tracer wire terminal to the light blue/black tracer wire terminal. Read More...
