Jimmy When I activate the ice dispenser I can hear the motor attempt to drive the dispenser then it "jams". If I take the ice bucket out and empty it of ice I can't freely turn the metal rod that runs the length of the inside of the bucket (I think this is what you're referring to as the auger?). Also, the coupler cap does not sit flush against the back of the bucket (I'm assuming the metal rod is binding keeping it from spinning). Should I be able to easily turn the rod in the ice bucket by hand when the bucket is out of the freezer and empty of ice?
Answer Jimmy, When you take the ice bucket out and it is empty you should be able to turn the auger or the metal rod. The rod in that goes into the door should not be able to be turned. This issue sounds like the motor could possibly be defective. You can open the door and push on the light switch and dispenser lever and see if the shaft turns with the ice bin out. If it does turn and the auger is turning easily then the motor is binding and would need to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, January 20, 2014
