Lester for Model Number WU502 The clear plastic pummp drivebelt broke on my Maytag dishwasher Model WU 502. Putting the old one together to see how a new one would intstall, I can't see how to get the belt over the pulleys without loosening the motor so the belt can go over both pulleys. But I am afraid to take the clips off the motor because I would need to pull the motor back into place against the pressure of the re-installed belt. I don't know how that could be done without a special tool or having two people on the floor, one pulling on the motor and the other replacing the clips. This too seems difficult or impossible because of the restricted space, the backpressure necessary to overcome the resistance of the belt on both pulleys (motor and pump pulleys). Can you give me a clue on what I would have to do????
Answer Lester, It may be tough, depending on the installation and the clearance between the pulley(s) and the floor. The most common belt installation on your unit is: Leave the belt "dry", slip the belt onto the motor pulley, from underneath and hold it in position. Slip the belt onto the pump pulley from underneath and "roll" it onto the pulley, then lubricate the belt with the "Poly Lube" supplied with the belt. It'll be a tight fit, and may take a couple of attempts, but you'll get it on and be operating in no time. Good Luck and Thanks Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, April 30, 2012
