Dave June 10, 2020 for Model Number wu282 Maytag d/w belt stopped rotating. Belt is fine. At 1st, I could not rotate belt pulleys by hand. I tried again later with much more force, and within a couple minutes, I got the belt to turn manually. I started the d/w and it seems to cycle OK, although it seems to be quite a bit louder while cycling. Please give your opinion as to whether it is OK run, and does the belt need belt lube or do the pulleys need some type of wd-40 treatment. Thanks so much for your answer(s) and hopefully they will save my marriage for another year or two. Dave
1 Answer Hello Dave, the bearing in the pump assembly (901459) is likely seizing and is no longer available. Drive belts should never be lubricated, WD40 is actually a water-displacing fluid, its lubricating ability is temporary. Read More...
Ann March 09, 2018 I have an old Maytag dishwasher 1990. I want to apply lube grease to the belt. Do I put the grease on the inside of the belt that goes around the pulley or on the outside of the belt or both? Thank you.
1 Answer Ann, Apply the silicone grease to the inside of the belt surface, turn the pulley slowly/carefully by hand two or three revolutions so the grease is distributed on both the pump and motor pulleys. Make sure you install the kickplate and access panels before you run the motor. Read More...
Tom December 17, 2016 for Model Number Maytag uses belt 902115 is using the lubricant essential when replacing this belt? I've replaced the belt before and was never given the lubricant. Will it help extend the life of the belt?
Michelle G. March 21, 2016 I found a purple type belt laying on the bottom of my dishwasher and really don't know were it belongs, I was wondering if the belt even belongs to my whirlpool dishwasher
1 Answer Michelle, The "purple type belt" is not from your dishwasher. Whirlpool dishwashers are "direct drive" products, and wouldn't have a belt. You're probably looking at a seal from a plastic container cover or a large jar or something similar. Read More...
Ruth Symons March 03, 2016 for Model Number Maytag LWC202 I've seen many people ask the question about whether the new replacement pump belt for various Maytag models will fit, and the answer is invariable yes, 6-9021150 will fit all including my LWC202. However, I have been struggling for the last three hours to get it on, with no success. I attach it first to the motor pulley and then stretch, but barely get it to a point where it will touch the pump pulley front side and it definitely won't stretch enough to walk it in the groove to the point just opposite the motor pulley, where it could walk itself the rest of the way. I've used a screw driver to try to walk it around, and it is simply too rigid and tight. And this was with two people who are fairly mechanical. Any other suggestions? As others have mentioned, the original belt was about 27 inches as compared to this one at just over 25. You don't have a round, clear 26 or 27 by 1/4 inch belt? I'm truly stymied.
1 Answer Ruth, This is the correct part number for the belt, once you get the belt to the pulley then you will want to hold the belt against the pulley and turn the pulley to get the belt to slip on. Read More...
Chris S August 18, 2014 for Model Number Maytag WU502 Hi, I've purchased a replacement clear belt for my old Maytag dishwasher, Model WU502 (belt PN 6 9021150), but it is about 1 1/4 inches shorter than the old belt. I measured the the pulley to pulley loop as 26 5/8 inches using string, but the replacement part is only about 25 1/2 inches. That would mean stretching the belt more than 1 inch to fit. Is this correct or did Maytag change this part? Thanks, Chris
1 Answer Chris, according to the manufacturer the dishwasher belt 6-9021150 is the correct replacement listed for your model and should fit with no issues. Thanks. Read More...
Dz May 22, 2014 for Model Number maytag wu202 Ok - so I have the new belt [part # 902 115 pump belt for Maytag] for my ancient Maytag (thanks) but it is soooo tight. Any tips/ video for getting it installed? Do I start from the back and try to pull it to the motor?
1 Answer DZ, It's easiest to leave the belt dry, and slip the belt onto the motor pulley and stretch it onto the pump pulley, there's slightly more room to work with. Once the belt is on both pulleys and you've rotated the belt a couple of times, then apply all the silicone grease to the belt and rotate the belt by hand. Put the kickplate in position and turn the dishwasher to a drain cycle so the lubricant can be evenly distributed. Read More...
Paula December 28, 2013 for Model Number JennAir I have a circa 1991 JennAir dishwasher and when I opened it to unload the clean dishes, there was a belt (in fine shape) in the bottom. I can't see how/where to put it back on???? Can you help? Thank you, Paula
1 Answer Paula, There would not be any type of belt inside the dishwasher. Most likely the part that you found would have come from the lid of one of the dishes that was in the unit. Read More...
