Manufacturer Part Number: WP8558129

The Detergent Dispenser Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers, designed to store and release detergent and rinse aid at the appropriate times during the wash cycle. This component ensures that your dishes are cleaned efficiently by dispensing the correct amount of detergent for optimal washing performance.

Causes of a malfunctioning dispenser can include mechanical failure of the latch or spring mechanism, clogging due to detergent buildup, or electrical issues preventing the dispenser from operating correctly.

Symptoms of a bad Detergent Dispenser Assembly include:

  • Detergent not being dispensed correctly, leading to poorly cleaned dishes.
  • The dispenser door not opening during the cycle or failing to latch properly before starting.
  • Leakage of detergent from the dispenser, indicating a seal failure.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Candis for Model Number DU1055XTSQ3

RE: detergent latch. I noticed the detergent door would not stay shut without a good amount of pressure. The gay open tab comes off and freely movable. Has the gasket on it. There is also a white attachment part that appears to hook on the inside of the assembly somehow (as well as hooks into the gray latch mechanism). Neither appear broken. I just wonder how the white plastic attachment part came out of the assembly from the inside of the detergent assembly. Any suggestions and easy way I can try to fix this myself? I would appreciate it.

Answer

Candis, Did you check the area around the latch assembly for a build up of undisolved detergent ? If there is any issue with the latch linkage or actuator linkage, causing the door to not locl or unlock, you will need to replace the complete detergent/rinse aid dispenser WPW10224428. It is a "sealed" unit, and there are no individual repair parts available from the manufacturer. Good Luck and Thanks
