Part Number: OEM12743610
Manufacturer Part Number: R0181181

The Door Closure Kit is an OEM replacement part  for Whirlpool refrigerators. The kit includes all the necessary parts to ensure your refrigerator door closes and seals properly - including two black and two white cams used for both the door and the hinge.

Over time, door closure mechanisms can wear down from continual opening and closing motions. The cushions compress and arms lose tension. Without a tight seal, cold air can escape raising energy costs.

Symptoms of a bad door closure kit include:

  • Doors not closing or sealing fully
  • Difficulty closing doors that don't latch securely
  • Noticeable cool air loss around door edges
  • Frost buildup indicating air leakage

It is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Answer

Sandy, You'll need to remove power to the refrigerator, remove everything from the door bins, and remove the kickplate grille. Once you remove the top hinge cover 10849401 and the two screws holding the upper hinge assembly 12426201 to the cabinet, you can remove the hinge from the door panel, carefully open the fridge door enough to clear the opening and lift the door up and off the bottom hinge. You can then remove the mounting screw from the closer on the bottom hinge and the cam on the bottom of the door. Use a liberal amount of grease on the closer and cam when you start to re assemble the door. The freezer door will be a bit more difficult, you'll need to disconnect the water tube for the dispenser from the bottom hinge, and disconnect the dispenser wire harness under the top hinge cover, and then proceeed with the basic removel, install procedure.
