The Door Closure Kit is an OEM replacement part  for Whirlpool refrigerators. The kit includes all the necessary parts to ensure your refrigerator door closes and seals properly - including two black and two white cams used for both the door and the hinge.

Over time, door closure mechanisms can wear down from continual opening and closing motions. The cushions compress and arms lose tension. Without a tight seal, cold air can escape raising energy costs.

Symptoms of a bad door closure kit include:

  • Doors not closing or sealing fully
  • Difficulty closing doors that don't latch securely
  • Noticeable cool air loss around door edges
  • Frost buildup indicating air leakage

It is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Door Closure Kit (Part Number: OEM12743610)

Hello Martin, Removal of the door cams would cause the doors to be too low and the door strike would not be satisfactory for the door to close so this would not be advised. If you open the door further than you normally do, the cam will prevent the door from closing as it will rest in the next low place on the cam.

Bobby, unfortunately, an exact size could not be given as the manufacturer does not list this information. However, if the model number for your refrigerator could be verified and provided in a new inquiry, this will allow for the most accurate information possible to be presented.

Ted, You will want to check the cams on the door hinge as this would be the most likely cause for the door not closing properly. Also check the unit to make sure that the unit is properly leveled as this could cause this issue as well.

Buckeye for Model Number Amana ASD2624HES

Recently our refrigerator door stopped closing right. Usually you just push it to close and it takes care of finishing closing and sealing. Now, when you go to close it is will either stop before completely closing or it will close and bounce back open an inch or 2. If you push it closed, it will stay closed and seems to seal, but it's a real pain to have to do that, especially with kids in the house who don't always think to do it. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Buckeye, You will want to check the door closure kit to make sure that it is not broken. If broken it will need to be replaced. The part number is R0181181. Also if the crisper shelves have been taken out recently for cleaning, make sure that they are slid all the way back.

Louie for Model Number JCD2292HTB

The fridge door right side when opened swings back to close and impacts the lower food drawers that I have open and using. The door slowly swings to the closing position impacting the drawers that are pulled out while using them and the fridge door will (if not held open by your body) will break the plastic drawers. What can I do to make the door stay open. All other fridges that I have seem to have a safety or pause holding open position. Thank you.

Hello Kathy, You remove the kick panel and the water line is on the left side. Follow it back to the coupling. You will need to put down a towel and remove the side of the coupling closest to the door. If it is a threaded style, it will simply unscrew counterclockwise. If it a John Guess fitting, you will need to press the ring around the water tube toward the fitting and while holding it there, pull the water line out. To reinstall it you just press it back in and when it bottoms, push harder and it will pop in another 1/4 inch or so. To seal it, pull on it without holding the ring in.

Hello Don. These are tricky and require the removal of the spades from the connector then re-installed into the connector in the proper location. You will need a pin removal tool to do this and can usually find them at your local electronic store.
