Kris for Model Number WED94HEAC1 I accidentally put my lint screen in backwards and it became jammed. In my efforts to pull it out, I broke the lint filter part # W10219016. I did not find any springs as some of the other posts mentioned. The lint screen is undamaged and returns easily the way it always has. Most important question: is this part W10219016 imperative? Can I operate the dryer safely without it? If I must repair this part, do I need to purchase springs along with a new filter, and if so how many? Then, how do I repair part W10219016 for this model of electric dryer (WED94HEAC1)?
Answer Kris, Yes you can operate dryer with the lint trap door open. But you'll need to be careful. The doors spring up and block the duct when the lint filter is removed, to keep articles from falling down and getting into the blower assembly. You do want to get the issue repaired as soon as possible. It will require removal of the front panel, dismantle the upper duct assembly, and install the door and spring. Read More...
