The Lint Screen Door is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers. It is responsible for covering the lint screen area and protecting the inner components of the dryer drum. The lint screen door allows for easy access to clean out lint buildup after each load.

Over time, the door can suffer from wear and tear due to regular handling or accidental impacts. A faulty lint screen door can lead to improper lint trapping, which might cause airflow issues and potential fire hazards.

Symptoms of a bad lint screen door include:

  • Difficulty opening or closing the door smoothly
  • Gaps or openings that allow lint to bypass the screen
  • Warping or misshapen door that no longer fits properly

This is a genuine Whirlpool OEM replacement this part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air, and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Lint Screen Door (Part Number: OEM18905514)

Elissa, No the W11156832 Door, is a single door/piece. If both doors are needed, you will need to order two(2) doors. The tension springs are part number W11242876, just in case you lost them or if the springs are damaged or broken, you would need two(2) springs as well.

Hello Linda. This is the best answer that we can give for the unit as there are not specific printed instructions on how to do it. Unplug dryer or disconnect power. Turn off gas supply to dryer. Open the dryer door and remove the lint filter screen. Remove the two front screws from the outlet grille. Remove the three inside screws from the outlet grille. Pull the moisture sensor away from the dryer and disconnect the black and yellow-red wires from the moisture sensor strips. Once you have the two pieces separated you can remove the old doors and snap the new doors in place.

same as Kris - I accidentally put my lint screen in backwards and it became jammed. In my efforts to pull it out, I broke the lint filter part # W10219016. I did not find any springs as some of the other posts mentioned. The lint screen is undamaged and returns easily the way it always has. But now it makes a loud noise. is this part W10219016 imperative? Can I operate the dryer safely without it? If I must be repaired, can I do it myself? do I need to purchase springs along with a new filter, and if so how many? Then, how do I repair part W10219016 for this model of electric dryer (WED94HEAC1)? donna

Donna, That door will help to hold the lint filter in and will be best to have it installed properly.

Hello Sabrina. Not as long as you always have the filter in there. If you leave it out and start the dryer, it will suck clothing into the opening.

Kris, Yes you can operate dryer with the lint trap door open. But you'll need to be careful. The doors spring up and block the duct when the lint filter is removed, to keep articles from falling down and getting into the blower assembly. You do want to get the issue repaired as soon as possible. It will require removal of the front panel, dismantle the upper duct assembly, and install the door and spring.

Hello Ron, The answer previously posted to Lorina is referring to closing the lint screen area to articles of clothing, not air flow. Closing the air flow would not be desirable as it would tend to cause premature electrical failures of the heating element, the thermostats, and the motor. It would also super heat the drum rollers, causing them to also fail prematurely.

Hello Mike. Clean out the air duct assembly on the unit. If all is clean, and the filter still will not sit flush, you will need to replace the lint screen W11758174 on the unit.

Lorina, the lint door W11156832 installs on the grill and outlet housing W10906551 where the lint filter slides in and out of. This closes the lint filter area where the lint filter installs in the case the filter was accidentally left out while the unit is on. Thanks.
