Mb for Model Number PYET244AYW The dryer element does not fully come on, only the bottom row of coils has been working. Now today it will heat only for a few minutes and then stop heating while dryer continues to run. Tested the thermal fuse and it has continuity. Do I need a new element? Noticed one of the wires connected to thermal fuse is a little black at the fuse connection.
Answer MB, the element LA-1044 will need to be checked for any grounded coils by testing for continuity to the element base from each terminal. The coils could also be bridging. The wire with the blackened connector will need to be inspected for a loose connection as well as any signs of the wire turning brittle. The cycling thermostat WP31001192 is a possibility if it is opening but not closing back to allow L1 120VAC to get to the element once it opens.
