By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM12727491
Manufacturer Part Number: LA-1044

The Dryer Heating Element Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers. This kit is essential for the dryer's ability to generate hot air needed to efficiently dry clothes. The heating element works by converting electrical energy into heat, which is then circulated throughout the dryer drum to evaporate moisture from the laundry.

Over time, the heating element can burn out or become damaged, leading to a significant decrease in drying efficiency or the dryer not producing any heat at all.

Symptoms of a bad Dryer Heating Element Kit include:

  • Clothes taking longer to dry or not drying completely
  • The dryer running but not generating any heat
  • Unusual noises or smells during operation, indicating potential overheating or electrical issues
  • The dryer repeatedly blowing fuses or tripping circuit breakers

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Answer

HI Roger. Not sure of the original Issue. If the dryer is not running and the heater is on with the door open/doors switch presses in with the timer on i a heat mode, then your motor centrifugal switch is bad as it is stuck closed and allowing the heater voltage undesired. You really need to un plug the unit and replace the motor part # W10410996. This is caused by the total vent system is clogged and kinked. Peek at the vent with the unit in the normal position. You only need enough vent to pull the unit out and it still be hooked up. Replace it with rigid flex metal vent and clean the outside vent cap/hood 4-5x per/yr.. It needs to open and close normally as the cap is free. Clean all the lint and make sure the vent system is not sagging and is on a decline -horizontal run towards outside. Thank You.
