Jill for Model Number kerc607hs1 About a year ago the inner part of the broil element stopped working so we stopped using the broiler. I did notice that it seemed to take longer for the oven to heat up when baking after that. Now when I put the oven to bake it won't heat up. The only thing that seems to be working is the outer edge of the broil element. Does this mean that we need to replace the bake and broil elements? Also are they both accessible from the back of the unit? Thanks.
Answer Hello Jill! If the broil element went out, it would take longer for the bake session to heat as the two work together to heat the appliance to the desired temperatures. You will need to replace the elements. The broil element is part number WP9750967 and the bake element is part number WP9752294. You will need to unplug the range. Remove the oven racks. In the back of the electric range, there are two screws that hold the elements. Remove these two screws and gently pull the element towards the door opening. Remove the wires from the bake element one at a time. You may need to use long nosed pliers to remove the wires. Be careful that the wiring doesn't fall back through the back of the oven. Once the wires have been removed, discard the old element and replace it with the new one. Once the new element is installed, plug the unit back in and test. Hope this information helps Read More...
