By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18042135
Manufacturer Part Number: WP9760229

This spark electrode mounts at the bake burner and creates the ignition spark to light the oven flame. Replacing a worn or cracked electrode restores fast, reliable bake ignition and consistent oven temperatures.

  • Generates a high-voltage spark to ignite gas at the bake burner
  • Helps correct symptoms such as no heat on Bake, repeated clicking without ignition, or intermittent bake heating
  • Wear, contamination, cracks, or misalignment of the tip can prevent proper ignition
  • Restores dependable oven lighting and reduces delayed ignition
What's included: One bake burner spark electrode Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off gas supply before servicing
  • Remove oven racks, oven bottom panel, and flame spreader to access the bake burner area
  • Note wire routing and electrode position; transfer any bracket as needed and secure the new electrode
  • Align the electrode tip close to the burner, then restore power and test ignition

Chris for Model Number kitchenaid KSS907SSS00

Our Oven Broil function isn't working properly. The electrical heating element works fine and comes up to temp quickly but the gas elements are both faulting. The gas definitely comes on, you can smell it. The igniters click and sometimes light off, Both top and bottom, sometimes only one. but then quickly extinguish during pre-heat, which can take a very long time. (I believe in most cases the only thing heating is the electric element in the oven.) Eventually the oven will come up to temp, but it struggles to hold it. I think because the gas isn't staying lit. But not entirely sure. Is this an igniter problem? Spark module problem? Or something else? Any help would be appreciated.

Answer

Hello Chris, first, the oven door has to be closed as per the door switch during oven heating otherwise the control will stop oven heating after a minute. Next remove both the bake and burner tubes and lightly sand where the tubes secure to the chassis, snug the mounting screws, this is important as that is an electrical contact point for grounding the burner tubes. If problem still occurs replace the spark ignition wire harness , part WP9762904.
