Jim for Model Number kenmore refer #1068680380 The freezer seems to be working; I have removed the back and had to remove ice from the coil and the fan because the fan blades were hitting the ice buildup. The refer compartment will only reach 51 degrees. Is there some ice build up in the compartment that is keeping the temp up? Would allowing the total refer to stand idle for 2 days rectify the problem? Or is a new refer to be bought? I appreciate your answer. Jim
Answer Hello Jim. From the description you have provided, it sounds like you have a defrost issue. You could have a bad timer W10822278, defrost thermostat WP4387499 or the element (which is no longer available). You can test the thermostat with a multi meter MA-DM1, it should read closed when cold. The element, should give you some resistance reading. Here is a link you can refer to for help with using a multi meter: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html .
