Calcis B. for Model Number MERH865RAS13 The left side cooktop "On Indicator" stays on even after the front left cooktop burner has been turned off and has cooled down, why? Started doing this the other day. Before then it would go out after the cooktop had been turned off for enough time for it to cool off. So is the sensor incorporated in the burner element or is the sensor a separate part?
Answer Bill, you're on track. The most likely scenario is a bad sensor on the burner. You can test the sensor circuit with a multi meter. you'd be checking for an open circuit across the 1B and 2B terminals of the sensor assembly(s), when the burner is cool. You will need to check both left side burner sensors, to determine which one has failed, and unfortunately the burner sensor is not a separate component, so you'll need to order the complete burner.
