This surface heating element is the electric heat source for a cooktop burner on an electric range. Replacing a worn or open element restores steady, responsive burner heat for everyday cooking. What it does

  • Converts electrical energy to heat for the selected surface burner
  • Works with the surface control to cycle heat and maintain set temperature
  • Common symptoms: burner won't heat, heats weakly or intermittently, or shows visible hot spots/burn marks on the element

Install notes
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing and let the cooktop cool completely
  • Access the element by lifting/removing the cooktop or burner pan per your model's service procedure
  • Photograph and label wire locations; move one connection at a time to the new element
  • Transfer any mounting brackets or supports from the original element; avoid bending or stressing the element during install

Hello Jermaine. You will need to test and see if there is power at the element. If so, and the element does not glow, you will need to replace the element W10823715. If there is not power at the element, then the switch WP7403P239-60 will need to be replaced on the unit. You can use a meter and test this at the switch. Check across H1 and H2 at the switch. With the switch on, there should be power. If not, replace the switch. If so, replace the element. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
