Deb H. for Model Number WFE714HLASO I turn my oven on to a certain degree to heat up, but it doesn't shut off at that degree....it gets extremely hot and burns food like the broiler is on. Can you give me any idea what is wrong with it?
Answer Deb, Being your range is an electric model, and you have an ERC (Electronic Range Control) You would want to recheck and re calibrate the control, if you have done that, the next option, and most likely problem would be the Oven Temp. Sensor WPW10181986 located in the oven cavity back wall. This device transmits the oven temperature to the ERC, Under certain conditions and usage factors, the sensor can loose the calibration and cause the oven to overheat. You also want to check for loose connections and corrosion in the wire harness connectors, and make sure the two sensor wires aren't pinched or chafed where the wires interact with the chassis and seams of the panels.
