Bob for Model Number Maytag Model #WU504 The gasket on my door has about a 3/8" gap between the 2 ends at the bottom. Could that be my leaking problem? Should the new gasket come together?
Answer Bob, On that particular model number, the gap in the bottom of the door gasket is normal. There are a few things you will need to check and adjust. Open the door and check the hinge pins where the door hinge meets the tub frame, make sure the pins are not loose or at an angle. Check and adjust the door latch catch on the tub(theres a 5/16 in hex head screw in the opening in the center of the top of the door opening flange. Check the lower spray arm for cracks in the seams or debris sticking out the jet spray openings. check and make sure the float and float stem are moving freely and not "sticky". Lastly, start the dishwasher and allow the unit to fill and wash for 3 to5 minutes, then unlatch the door, open the door and check the water level in the bottom of the tub. Thw water level should be even with the white pump housing cover and should not be any higher than the bottom of the lower spray arm. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
