Mike, Yes the 3/8 inch gap on the bottom of the door gasket is normal on "all" Maytag pocelain tub/belt drive dishwashers. If you have a leak issue, a couple of things to check, The door stike at the top of the tub may need to be adjusted, check the door hinge pins(visible with the door open) are tight and level, not loose and at an angle. Check the lower soray arm for a split seam or debris in the openings(especially the bottom and ends of the arm. And check the float and switch for free movement up and down, so the machine is not overfilling. Good Luck and Thanks

Bob, On that particular model number, the gap in the bottom of the door gasket is normal. There are a few things you will need to check and adjust. Open the door and check the hinge pins where the door hinge meets the tub frame, make sure the pins are not loose or at an angle. Check and adjust the door latch catch on the tub(theres a 5/16 in hex head screw in the opening in the center of the top of the door opening flange. Check the lower spray arm for cracks in the seams or debris sticking out the jet spray openings. check and make sure the float and float stem are moving freely and not "sticky". Lastly, start the dishwasher and allow the unit to fill and wash for 3 to5 minutes, then unlatch the door, open the door and check the water level in the bottom of the tub. Thw water level should be even with the white pump housing cover and should not be any higher than the bottom of the lower spray arm. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello Marty. The gasket WP901403 ends should come together at the bottom of the door. You should be able to look at the old gasket installed on the door to give you an idea. Thank you.
