Answer Mike, Yes the 3/8 inch gap on the bottom of the door gasket is normal on "all" Maytag pocelain tub/belt drive dishwashers. If you have a leak issue, a couple of things to check, The door stike at the top of the tub may need to be adjusted, check the door hinge pins(visible with the door open) are tight and level, not loose and at an angle. Check the lower soray arm for a split seam or debris in the openings(especially the bottom and ends of the arm.
