Maria Y. for Model Number Whirlpool gold GS6SHEXML00 refrigerator My side-by-side refrigerator in the freezer won’t defrost and water is on the bottom and freezes up. And refrigerator side is not cold and keep getting water on the bottom too. I replaced the defrost thermostat but it’s still having the same problem. What else can I do? Replace the defrost heater? Answer Hello Maria, Water in the freezer floor usually indicates a frozen defrost drain. This should be cleared and put a tablespoon of white vinegar in it to kill any algae that may be forming in the drain hose.
