Linc for Model Number Whirlpool duet part no 8558724 dryer

HI, I have been reading the forums trying to diagnose my dryer as the heat stopped working, I have the manual as well, I have done as the manual as instructed when recieving no heat 1, checked resistance between red wire at thermal cut off to red wire at heater, there is no resistance which tells me either the thermal cut off or the heater element attatchment is not working, I do not know which one it would be so I was hoping you can help as to which one you think it might be. I also followed both those red wires back to there origin, the one seems to come straight from the main power plug in on the wall and the other seems to run into the drive motor under the drum. I have checked the resistance between the red and white wire from heater to high limit thermostat and have resistance and also checked the black wire from the high limit thermostat and thermal cut off and ahve resistance there as well, so I assume that all of those connections are fine. I have checked the main plug and have 120 on each side and 240 total coming from the breaker so I am good there. Thank you for any help.

Hello Linc, You will want to do a continuity check on the thermal cut off and the heater assembly. Disconnect the wires from each component and check to see if the heater or the thermal fuse is open or closed. If closed then it checks ok if open replace. It sounds like the wiring is good but test high limit continuity as well. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
