John L. for Model Number MSD2756AE Maytag

The coils keep freezing causing the unit to loose air flow and melting everything. Fridge was closed for two months while I was away so it wasn't constantly an open and closing issue. I returned to a smelly house of rotting food in the freezer. Why is this happening. Also found that the door ice/ water dispencer would not work. After removing the front plate I fount the front of the plastic was melted on the right hand side in front of the door actuator. What could have cost this to go and is it worth investing in to replace? Or should I get a new fridge? Thank you

Answer

Hi John. The fountain control button that calls for ice had the chute solenoid to open. A very common failure that the chute solenoid stuck open physically and overheated. This melted the inner control mount bracket. This part # is WP61003407. The ice door kit is part # 12001991. If the chute was open , it will cause A no- cool. Is the back wall of t6he freezer full of frost build up? If so this will cause a no- cool. The defrost thermostat is part # WP61006199. The defrost electronic timer is part # 61005988. Thank you.
