The Ice Maker is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It automates the ice production within the freezer, providing a steady and reliable supply of ice cubes.

Causes of a bad Ice Maker can include malfunctioning water valves, clogged filter systems, or issues with the thermostat that affect ice production. Additionally, mechanical failures in the ice ejector arms or the heating mechanism that releases the ice can prevent proper functioning.

Symptoms of a bad Ice Maker include:

  • No ice production or very slow ice production
  • Ice cubes that are smaller or larger than normal
  • Ice that tastes odd or smells bad
  • Loud noises during the ice-making process

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Cathleen Harrison for Model Number WRS555SIHV00

We bought this refrigerator last year and the ice maker has been a pain from the beginning. This time I cant figure it out. It was making ice just fine until I replaced the filter, now it will not make ice. The water dispenser works great and I flushed 4 gallons of water through it using the 5 seconds to dispense/ 5 secs off method. Can you help me figure out what the issue is? The arm goes down and checks and I hear the tray dump but the water is not filling the ice tray. Thank you in advance!

Answer

Cathleen, You will want to check the fill tube to make sure that it is not frozen. This would be the most likely cause of the issue. If the tube is not frozen then it would be recommended to see if the water valve is getting power to it. If it is then the water valve would be the issue.
